Naviance is a program that Elyria Catholic is using with the students and families to explore interests, careers, and colleges. Students and parents will have access to an online portfolio using a username and password. Below is an overview of what Naviance will be used for at each grade level.
Freshmen
Counselors use Naviance to explore students’ strengths by using the "Strengths Explorer" and use that information to assist them in exploring potential careers.
Sophomores
Counselors administer a "Career Exploration" questionnaire to sophomores through Naviance. After completing the 180 question assessment, the students are given their Holland Code and asked to explore careers that are related to their personality.
Juniors
Juniors are asked to research five different colleges through Naviance as well as add the colleges to their "Colleges I'm Thinking About" list.
Seniors
Seniors are instructed to add all of the colleges they plan on applying to their "Colleges I’m Applying to" list. The counselors will use Naviance to send recommendations and transcripts to the colleges. At the end of the year, a graduation survey will be administered through Naviance to gain an understanding of where the students will be attending and how much scholarship money they received.
